Federal Legislation - Personal Data Protection (Amendment) Act 2024 and Limited Liability Partnerships (Amendment) Act 2024
On 17 October 2024, Federal Government gazetted the following Acts which had received the Royal Assent on 9 October 2024:

Personal Data Protection (Amendment) Act 2024 |

The Personal Data Protection Act 2010 [Act 709] (principal Act) is amended by substituting “data user” and “data users” wherever appearing including in the shoulder note, to “data controller” and “data controllers” respectively except in the definition of “register” under section 4 and section 9, and other amendments to section 4, section 5, section 9, section 16, section 21, section 48, section 67, section 129, section 136, and insertion of New Division 1A of Part II, New section 43A and Saving. The Personal Data Protection (Amendment) Act 2024 (Act) will come into operation on a date to be appointed by the Minister by notification in the Gazette and the Minister may appoint different dates for the coming into operation of different provisions of the Act. Limited Liability Partnerships (Amendment) Act 2024 |
|
The Limited Liability Partnerships Act 2012 [Act 743] (principal Act) is amended in section 10, section 19, section 27, Part VII, section 91, insertion of New Part IIIA, New sections 49A and 49B, New section 70A, New section 76A, New Fourth Schedule, and substitution of section 76. The Limited Liability Partnerships (Amendment) Act 2024 (LLP Act) will come into operation on a date to be appointed by the Minister by notification in the Gazette and the Minister may appoint different dates for the coming into operation of different provisions of the LLP Act.
