SSM - Lodgement of Financial Statements Through MBRS Platform

On 5 March 2022, Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) Penang had sent a circular to all company secretaries in the Northern region that, beginning 15 April 2022, it is recommended that all Company Secretaries and Holders of the Penang State Company Secretary Practice Certificate submit Financial Statements (FS) online through the Malaysian Business Reporting System (MBRS) platform. The following are the advantages of submitting Financial Statements through the MBRS platform:

• Reduces exposure to COVID-19;
• Prepares company secretaries to submit FS through the MBRS platform prior to this becoming mandatory;
• Handover can be done 24 hours a day, 7 days a week;
• Allows for the submission of FS if the SSM Penang service counter closes due to Covid-19;
• Helps to avoid delays in approval since details of FS are in the possession of the company (auto approve);
• Reduces FS queries pertaining to ‘auto reject’;
• Avoids congestion in the office; and
• Enables transportation and administration cost savings.
