Guidelines on Entry Requirements
Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme
The Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme (CGQP) is an express route for holders of Institute recognized Bachelor and Master degrees in order to complete the qualifying programme of the Chartered Governance Institute (CGI) and gain admission as members of CGI. Students eligible for the CGQP gain entry into Level 1 or 2 of the programme. Entry for CGQP is divided into three categories, namely Related Degree holders, Non-Related Degree holders and the Fast Track Professional route.
Related Degree
This includes Institute recognized degrees in law, accounting, finance, commerce, economics, risk management, corporate governance, actuarial studies, an MBA or Executive-MBA and many more that are relevant from recognized institutions. Students who enter under this category may be required to complete the modules as shown below:
Law Degree holders
Students may be eligible to apply for exemption in one module in Level 1 of the CGQP:
Accounting / Finance / Business / Management Degree holders
Students may be eligible to apply for exemptions of up to three modules in Level 1 and Level 2 of the CGQP, provided that the modules have been incorporated in their degrees.
Non-Related Degree
This includes Institute recognised degrees that are not classified under the Related Degree category above. Students who enter under this category are required to complete all seven modules in the CGQP.
Holders of non-related degrees with a major in Accounting, Law, Finance and/or Business Studies are advised to write to the Students and Education Department with a certified true copy of their transcript, details of the course structure and syllabus for evaluation to determine if their degree can be considered for the Related Degree category.
