1. Objectives
The formation of the Young MAICSA Group is aimed at:
attracting a pool of young members who are active and dedicated to MAICSA
providing an environment where younger members can learn and practice leadership skills
providing a platform for the younger members to engage in round-table discussions, and offer other avenues for interaction
obtaining views and feedback from the young members on issues of interest and concern to them
providing a platform for young members to organise social and professional development activities that cater to their needs
facilitating networking among young members
2. Mission
To develop and enhance professional and personal skills whilst maximising the benefit of the Institute’s membership
3. Admission
Admission to membership is restricted to MAICSA members who are below 35 years old only
No admission fee and renewal fee will be charged
Eligible MAICSA members will have to register for admission in order to maintain a proper record of the numbers in the Group
4. Benefits
Access to opportunities to practise leadership skills
Access to networking events organised for young members
Access to advice and information from peers/senior members
Access to guidance from mentors
Access to programmes that will be specifically designed for young members
5. Support from MAICSA
MAICSA will allocate a budget for the Group to organise activities and programmes approved by MAICSA, subject to the budget proposed by the Group and approved by the Institute.
MAICSA will provide the venue and refreshments to facilitate the meetings, activities and events of the Group to be held at Bangunan MAICSA
MAICSA will provide guidance, when appropriate, for the management of the affairs of the Group
A representative from MAICSA will be present at all meetings of the Group to oversee its proceedings
6. Proposed Activities
To set up a bulletin board on the Internet for young members to discuss and obtain feedback on issues that may be of concern
To organise tea-talks on issues of interest to younger members
To organise training courses and seminars with guest speakers to aid in the development of leadership skills and enhancing career skills for younger members
To organise sports and charitable activities to instil a sense of belonging, pride and loyalty among these young members
7. Leadership
The management of the affairs of the Group will be vested in the Executive Officers (EXCO). Young members are encouraged to take up these leadership roles to build up their leadership skills by organising and conducting meetings, events and activities and motivating other young members to work with them. This will also provide them with an opportunity to learn and practise leadership skills.
7.1 Executive Officers (EXCO)
The Executive Officers will consist of the following 5 officers, who shall be termed the office-bearers of the Group and will be elected by a simple majority vote among the young members of the Group during their meeting
The EXCO shall serve for a one year term from the date when the Group is first established and holds it inaugural meeting
The duties of the Executive Officers are outlined below:
President responsible for fulfilling the mission of the Group
responsible for the general supervision and operation of the Group
to develop policies, directions and plans for the Group
to organise meetings, events and activities
to prepare a successor for office
Vice President to assist the President in the general supervision and operation of the Group
to assume the role of the President if the President is unable to perform his/her duties
to assist the President in organising meetings, events and activities
to act as a liaison officer to members of the Group
Treasurer to keep accurate account of funds allocated by MAICSA
to prepare budget of planned activities to be approved by the EXCO and thereafter MAICSA
to assist the President and Vice Presidents in organising meetings, events and activities
Secretary to record and keep minutes of meetings
to maintain the listing of members in the Group
to assist the President and Vice President in organising meetings, events and activities
Immediate Past       President to provide advisory and guidance as requested by the President
7.2 Meetings
The Executive Officers of the Group shall meet at least 4 times a year to discuss the affairs of the Group
Members of the Group shall meet once a year to elect members of EXCO for the following year and to receive the EXCO’s report on the working of the Group during the previous year
7.3 Sub-Committee(s) within the Group
Sub-committee(s) within the Group will only be formed for specific projects/tasks, whenever appropriate and as authorised by the EXCO
At least one EXCO member shall be present at all sub-committee meetings
Sub-committee members will be appointed by EXCO and upon the completion of the specific projects/tasks or by order of the EXCO the sub-committee will be dissolved
Sub-committee members shall be solely responsible for the attainment of the objectives for which they were formed and no other matters
