CEO of Companies Commission of

A Fellow member of MAICSA
Abdul Alim Abdullah is the Chief Executive Officer of Companies
Commission of Malaysia (CCM). He is concurrently the Registrar of Companies and
the Registrar of Businesses Malaysia. He is a Barrister-At-Law, Lincoln’s Inn,
London.
He was elected Fellow of MAICSA in October 2004.
Alim started his legal career as Legal Officer in 1978 and
became the Assistant Director of Legal Aid Bureau, Malacca in the same year. In
1981, he was appointed as Senior Assistant Registrar, High Court, Penang
followed by the High Court Kuala Lumpur in 1983. Among the few positions that
he held between 1984 until 1996 were as Head of The Translation Bureau of
Supreme Court Kuala Lumpur, Session Court Judge, Deputy Public Prosecutor,
Legal Advisor of the Malaysian Royal Customs and Excise Department, Legal
Advisor State of Johore and Legal Advisor of the Home Ministry.
In year 2000, he was appointed Chairman of the Industrial Court,
Kuala Lumpur and on 1 April 2002, was appointed Registrar of Companies
Malaysia. He was the eleventh Registrar since 1968 and was the last before the
Registry of Companies (ROC) and the Registry of Businesses (ROB) merged to
become the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM) on 16 April 2002. He is also
a Board Member of the Labuan Offshore Financial Services Authority (LOFSA) and
the Financial Reporting Foundation. He also sits as a member of the Federal
Foreign Investment Committee and the High Level Finance Committee on Corporate
Governance Malaysia.

EX-Chairman of Securities Commission
Datuk Ali is currently the Senior Advisor of Ernst & Young
Malaysia and and also sits on the board of the Labuan Offshore Financial
Services Authority. He is the Chairman of Jobstreet Corporation Airocom
Technology Bhd, Microlink Solutions Bhd, T.H. Hin Corporation Bhd and Rio
Capital Sdn Bhd. He was elected Fellow of MAICSA in October 2004.
He was previously appointed by the Minister of Finance as the
Chairman of the Securities Commission (SC) on 1 March 1999. In this capacity,
Datuk Ali also headed the Capital Market Advisory Council, which oversees the
implementation of the Capital Market Masterplan, a strategic blueprint that
charts the long-term development of the capital market. Datuk Ali chaired the
International Communication for the Capital Market (ICCM), committee and was a
member of a number of national committees including the National Economic
Consultative Council II (MAPEN II), the Foreign Investment Committee (FIC) and
the Oversight Committee of the National Asset Management Company (Danaharta).
Datuk Ali was a trustee of the Financial Reporting Foundation, which oversees
the financial reporting framework in Malaysia, and had served on the Finance
Committee on Corporate Governance. In addition, Datuk Ali was a Trustee of the
Accounting and Auditing Organisation for Islamic Financial Institutions
(AAOIFI) from November 2000 to October 2003.
Datuk Ali was actively involved in international regulatory
circles. He was a member of the Executive Committee of the International
Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), Chairman of IOSCO’s
Asia–Pacific Regional Committee and chaired the Islamic Capital Market Task
Force.
Datuk Ali has served as the Executive Chairman and Partner of
Ernst & Young and its related firms prior to his appointment to SC. He was
also former President of the Malaysian Association of Certified Public
Accountants (MICPA, now known as the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public
Accountants).
Datuk Ali is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants
in England and Wales (ICAEW), having started his career in accounting in 1969
and qualifying as a member of the Institute in 1974. He has been a member of
MICPA since 1975 and of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants since 1976. He
was awarded the Pingat Jasa Negara (PJN) which carries the title "Datuk" by
DYMM Seri Paduka Baginda Yang DiPertuan Agong in 2001.

Mohd Qari is the Managing Director of Amtek Holdings Berhad, a
company listed on the second board of Bursa Malaysia Securities. He has been an
Executive Director of Amtek Holdings since 1996. He also serves as an Executive
Director on Lii Hen Industries Berhad. He is the Managing Director of Crocodile
Sdn Bhd and an Executive Director of Spark Manshop Holdings Sdn Bhd.
Mohd Qari holds an MBA from the University of Aston in
Birmingham, United Kingdom and was elected a Fellow member of MAICSA in 1999.
His career has spanned more than 20 years in merchant banking and company
secretaryship. He has extensive corporate exposure in the capital market
industry and in the private sector corporate advisory work particularly on
public flotation, mergers, acquisitions and takeovers, independent evaluation
of corporate transactions as well as other corporate restructuring schemes.
While attached to the merchant bank, Mohd Qari spoke at seminars
and conferences particularly on public listings. He was the Managing Director
of Damansara Realty Berhad from September 1998 to September 2003. He was also
the group company secretary of Antah Holdings Group from 1980 to 1982.
Mohd Qari is a member of the Bumiputra Development Committee of
the Institute and a member of the Investigating Tribunal and Disciplinary
Committee Panel of the Advocates and Solicitors’ Disciplinary Board of Bar
Council, Malaysia.

Winner of the Inaugural 'MAICSA Company Secretary Award'
Siew Chuan, a Chartered Secretary was elected a Fellow of the
MAICSA in 1997. In 1999, she was selected as the winner of the inaugural
"MAICSA Company Secretary Award" jointly organised by MAICSA and Companies
Commission of Malaysia. Currently, she is the Managing Director of Securities
Services (Holdings) Sdn Bhd, one of the leading Malaysian corporate
secretarial, share registration, accounting and payroll services company, with
a network of local offices throughout Malaysia.
Siew Chuan is the author of the book "The Hands-on Guide –
Company Secretarial Essentials Malaysia" and a co-author of "MAICSA Company
Secretarial Practice Manual both published by CCH Asia Pte. Limited.
She has more than 20 years of experience in handling secretarial
matters, with working knowledge of many industries and government services. She
also serves as a trustee of several charitable foundations.
She serves on the Technical Committee of MAICSA as a member and
has participated in a number of MAICSA's professional development programmes,
including the annual conferences and company law seminars.
Her corporate secretarial practice includes clients from a
variety of industries, including stockbroking, construction, property
development, trading, manufacturing, plantation, oil and gas, shipping,
transportation, hotels as well as MSC status companies and statutory bodies.
