| Institute holds Chinese New Year open house

The Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA) ushered
into the Year of the Golden Ox by hosting a Chinese New Year Open House at its building
in Mid Valley City, Kuala Lumpur on 5 February 2009 from 4.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. The
open house was held as part of the Institute’s activities to enhance relationship and
understanding among its various stakeholders that include its members and students,
the regulatory authorities, government agencies, institutions of higher learning and
other professional bodies.
MAICSA council members and secretariat staff,
some dressed in Chinese traditional costumes were at hand to welcome and entertain
guests.
The tradition of tossing the “Yee Sang” was not left out. Led by the Institute’s president Akbar Moidunny, fellow council members and guests “Loh Hei” for prosperity
and good fortune. More than 150 members, students and guests attended the event. Among them were the
Companies Commission of Malaysia
CEO Datuk Abdul Karim bin Abdul Jalil, its operations deputy CEO Hajah Rokiah Mhd Noor,
Tunku Abdul Rahman College principal Dr Tan Chik Heok and Federation of Public Listed
Companies CEO Muhamad bin Ibrahim.
Those present at the open house were served with delicious Malaysian delicacies while
being entertained by the melodious sound of “Guzheng” or Chinese harp by a musician from
the Regal Orchestra. Guests then took the opportunity to mingle and network with one
another besides establishing new contacts. They also had the chance to know MAICSA better
through the interaction with council members and secretariat staff.
