A ‘Malaysia Truly Asia’ Night for Institute’s Annual Dinner

Over 350 guests, members and students of The Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA) came dressed according to the theme “Malaysia Truly Asia” for the Institute’s annual dinner on 12 April 2008 at the Nikko Hotel’s ballroom in Kuala Lumpur. Companies Commission of Malaysia’s CEO Abdul Karim Abdul Jalil was the guest of honour for the evening.

The event began with an opening gambit by the Malaysian Cultural Dancers. Shortly after, a brief powerpoint presentation entitled “MAICSA Happenings” for the year 2007/2008 was shown. This was immediately followed by a welcome speech from MAICSA president Akbar Moidunny.

The highlight of the evening was the MAICSA Long Service Awards where five members received their awards for 15 years of continuous service in the various Committees.

While being served with a sumptuous nine-course Chinese dinner, guests were entertained with a comical sketch by “MAICSA Pte Ltd” comprising MAICSA staff. This was followed by a combination of cultural dances showcasing the theme “Malaysia Truly Asia” by the Malaysian Cultural Dancers.
