MAICSA held its Convocation on 17 May 2008 at the Prince Hotel and Residence Kuala Lumpur. A total of 14 Professional Diploma in Corporate Administration (PDCA) graduates, 38 ICSA graduates, 22 Associates and seven Fellows received their certificates from the Women, Family and Community Development deputy minister, YB Puan Noriah Kasnon.

The event commenced with the entry of graduates, Associates and Fellows, followed by the entry of the main procession. In his address, MAICSA president Akbar Moidunny FCIS congratulated the graduates and reminded them that their knowledge, skills, character and integrity will be tested in the competitive and challenging work environment. He further congratulated and welcomed the Fellows and Associates who have now achieved a higher level of seniority in MAICSA and in their career..

YB Puan Noriah in her speech advised the graduates to practise good work ethics and add value to their employers, customers and other stakeholders by being engaged in discussions at their workplace. “Education is a long-term investment for us to develop a knowledge-based society. It does not end once you received your scrolls”, she said. “MAICSA needs to increase its efforts in promoting the programme to our local institutions of higher learning and the profession of the Chartered Secretary to school children right from the beginning. This is in order to create a better awareness of the profession, its importance, and its roles and responsibilities,” she added.

Ten students who excelled in the various papers during the June and December 2007 examinations received prizes from YB Puan Noriah. As a gesture of appreciation for gracing the MAICSA event, the Institute presented YB Puan Noriah a painting of the Secretary Bird with the tagline “Leading Governance”.

Also present at the Convocation were representatives from various educational institutions, professional bodies, past and present MAICSA Council members, and families and friends of graduates, Associates and Fellows.
