Corporate Practice Consultative Forum (CPCF) held its meeting on 25 March 2008.
The main objective of CPCF is to provide a platform for representatives from professional
bodies to deliberate on matters pertaining to the Companies Act 1965 and its subsidiary
legislations dealing with specific issues with the Companies Commission of Malaysia
(SSM).
Forum members comprise MAICSA, Bar Council Malaysia, Malaysian Institute of Accountants
(MIA), Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), Malaysian Association
of Company Secretaries (MACS), Federation of Public Listed Companies (FPLC) and
the Institute of Approved Company Secretaries (IACS). SSM will provide the secretarial
and administrative support to the CPCF.
At the meeting, MAICSA sought SSM’s goodwill to address, endorse and advise all
licensed company secretaries to conform to the recommended fees for professional
secretarial services as approved by the Company Secretaries Consultative Group (CSCG)
on 10 December 2007. MAICSA spearheaded CSCG under the watchful eyes of SSM with
the objectives of addressing the different secretarial fees charged by company secretaries,
to tackle the issue of undercutting amongst company secretaries and to establish
minimum standardisation of scale of fees so as to ensure the quality of services
commensurate with the fees charged and as a guide for new practitioners in determining
chargeable fees.
SSM later took the opportunity to present the e-Lodgement and e- Info services which
are currently available. SSM also invited all forum members to give their views
and comments on the consultative document on “Limited Liability Partnership in Malaysia”,
e-Services, incorporation fee, electronic certificate of incorporation and e-Products.
Numerous issues raised by MAICSA, MIA, MICPA and MACS were also addressed satisfactorily
by SSM.
