On 23 February 2008, the Young Engineers’ Section (YES) of the Institute of Engineers’
Malaysia organised a bowling tournament at Pyramid Bowl, Sunway Pyramid.
Being young and passionate with a desire to excel, the Young MAICSA Group (YMG)
sent a group of five to join the tournament. The enthusiastic YMG members were Jocelyn
Ng, Jason Cheng, Eric Loh, Jane Lim and Mary Tie.

We were divided into two teams with Jason, Eric, and Jane in Team 1, while Jocelyn
and Mary in Team 2 were joined by a representative from YES. Twelve teams each comprised
of three members competing against each other in a “crossing” style. To the uninitiated,
“crossing” means bowling using two alleys alternately. Members of the YES, YMG as
well as the National Young Lawyers’ Committee pitted against each other in a game
of two.
After two rounds of bowling game, the top three trophies were carted away by YES
members, while Team 1 of YMG managed a respectable fourth place in the overall standing,
narrowly missing the bronze trophy just by a single score. Team 2 of YMG however,
got knocked out but managed to avoid the dubious honour of being the worst bowlers
by achieving eleventh place in the overall standing.
Eric Loh being a seasoned bowler among the YMG representatives has done YMG proud
emerging as the Best Male Bowler beating a host of engineers from YES. Congratulations
to Eric and our gratitude to Jane, Mary and Jocelyn who had contributed their precious
time and effort in taking part in the bowling tournament.
